Old Main

Founded in 1868, Wayne State University is a nationally recognized metropolitan research institution. The university offers more than 370 academic programs through 13 schools and colleges to nearly 29,000 students.

Old Main, the university’s signature building, provides space for the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts’ departments of music, theatre, communication, the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History, the Department of Geology, the Museum of Anthropology and more.

A. Paul Schaap Chemistry Building

The A. Paul Schaap Chemistry Building added 9,500 square feet to the existing chemistry facility, including an atrium area, administrative offices and a lecture hall. The expansion also includes a 150-person auditorium equipped with high-tech audio-visual and teleconferencing capabilities.

Tom Adams Field

Tom Adams Field

Tom Adams Field is home to the Wayne State University Warriors football team. In 2003 the stadium was named for Tom and Mary Adams, both Wayne State graduates and longtime friends of the university. Tom Adams was an officer in the alumni association, an elected member of the Board of Governors, a founding member of the Anthony Wayne Society and a member of the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bonstelle Theatre

Bonstelle Theatre

The Bonstelle Theatre is Wayne State University’s 1,200 seat broadway-style theatre where the undergraduate company performs. It was originally built in 1902 as the Temple Beth-El and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
Today, the department produces four shows a year ranging from Shakespeare to musicals to world premiere hip hop adaptations.

Elaine L. Jacob Gallery

Wayne State University’s Elaine L. Jacob Gallery presents regional, national and international contemporary art exhibitions. This beautiful bi-level space is dedicated to presenting works that are important, challenging and thought-provoking.

Reuther Mall

Reuther Mall

Reuther Mall is the main east/west walkway through main campus. Reuther Mall is a beautiful tree-lined pass that leads pedestrians by some of Wayne State’s most impressive buildings: Community Arts; Purdy/Kresge Library; Jacob House; Student Center; and the Towers, to name a few.
