Welcome to the front entrance at Mount Sinai Hospital. This is where our patients and visitors get dropped off or park their vehicles. Our parking structure is conveniently located adjacent to the hospital off Ogden Avenue.
Our Crown Lobby is where you enter after walking through the front doors of the hospital. Newly renovated and almost complete, our Crown Lobby front desk is where visitors and patients check in. We kindly ask to wear masks at all times and have your temperature taken by security upon entry.
This is the desk where the parents and visitors sign in with the unit secretary. Scroll to the sink and zoom out, you can see the NICU rooms where infants will stay. Hand hygiene is important to keep our infants safe. We ask parents to wash their hands, we also have hand sanitizer in each area.
This is what your delivery room will look like. Infant warmers are in each room, where they can be weighed and evaluated and given to mom to hold for some skin to skin. During your stay you will be placed on an external fetal monitor and a contraction monitor. Staff can monitor the status of your progress remotely from the nurses station. There are cots for your guest to sleep and a peanut ball to help with labor progression.
Once mom and baby are stable they will be transferred to the Mother/Baby unit. Here you will room in with your healthy full term infant. Cots are also available for your guest. A recliner is in each room so that you can have a comfortable spot to nurse or hold your infant.
In the NICU you will see infant warmers, isolettes and open cribs to meet our many infant needs. Hand sanitizer stations near each area, computers for the nurses to work at the bedside and recliners for parents when they visit. They are able to nurse or pump at the bedside if they so desire, privacy screens are placed. This area has lots of medical equipment that may be necessary for the neonates daily care. Nursing staff are near and able to assist parents with infant care and teaching.
Each OB triage bed has an external fetal monitor and a chair for the visitor. The nurses station is immediately available and the restroom for triage patients is readily available. Here you would be evaluated by the RN as well as the OB team. There is an ultrasound room as well as portable ultrasound to check the fetus wellbeing. Here the nurse will be able to collect lab specimens and treat as needed.
Should you find yourself needing a cesarean section our OR is equipped with everything needed to safely deliver your infant. Your Anesthesia team will be at the head of the bed, infant warmers are set up and ready to accept your baby. Your guest may be able to be at your bedside in the OR if the situation allows.
Our recovery room has 3 beds. Your stable infant will stay at your side in an open crib, or you may hold and feed your infant if you are feeling able. Your recovery should take about 2 hours minimum before you are transferred to the Mother/Baby Unit.
Our ultrasound room is in the OB triage area. During the daytime an ultrasound tech can perform scans.
This is the OB registration area where you would come for your scheduled induction, antepartum testing, OB triage as well as check in to visit the NICU.
