Using Ozone also means fewer chemicals need to be used in the treatment process.

We don’t like any water going to waste! \

This reservoir was covered with 96 million shade balls to protect water quality and preventing sunlight-triggered chemical reactions, while also preventing annual loss to evaporation. \

LADWP is the first utility to use shade balls to mitigate water quality issues in drinking water. These unique and simple 4-inch black plastic balls, weighed down with title 22 water inside, block much of the daily sunlight from reaching the water’s surface, thereby keeping it cool and protecting it from chemical reactions that can trigger algae blooms and other issues caused by environmental exposure.
