Welcome to the 360º virtual tour of the MemorialCare Breast Center at Long Beach Medical Center. The Breast Center, located in the Todd Cancer Pavilion, offers state-of-the-art breast imaging technology for the early detection of breast cancer in a calming, spa-like environment. This tour will introduce you to the different areas in the Breast Center that you may see during your appointment.
Welcome to the Todd Cancer Pavilion. You have just entered the lobby. To get to your appointment at the Breast Center, you can either take the grand staircase (to your right) or the elevators (to your left) to the 2nd Floor.
Once you have arrived on the 2nd Floor of the Todd Cancer Pavilion, you will check in at the Breast Center registration desk for your appointment. When you have checked in, feel free to be seated in the lobby while you wait for your name to be called.
When it is time for your appointment, a registrar will call your name and escort you to a registration booth. In the registration booth, the registrar will verify all of your information and finish your paperwork with you. Whether you are a new or returning patient, you’ll go to a registration booth.
Next, the registrar will escort you to a dressing room. Each dressing room has a chair, mirror and lockers, so patients can lock up their personal belongings.
Once dressed in your plush Breast Center robe, you can relax in the comfortable sitting room to wait until the technologist comes to get you.
The Breast Center is a one-stop shop for total breast care. The Breast Center offers 3D tomosynthesis screening and diagnostic mammograms, bone density screenings and second opinion services.
All mammograms done at the MemorialCare Breast Center at Long Beach Medical Center are read by female sub-specialized, fully dedicated breast radiologists. The radiologists only review breast images, which means they do not view other tests like bone x-rays or cardiac ultrasounds. By only reviewing mammograms, our team is specialized in identifying inconsistencies on the images.
In the Breast Center, there are rooms dedicated to ultrasound appointments. To keep the environment calming, our exam rooms feature beautiful skylights.
The Breast Center offers DEXA bone density screenings. Dual Energy X-Ray Absorpitometry (DEXA) is a scan to determine if you have osteoporosis or low bone mineral density. The simple test scans your hips, spine and forearm. It takes only a few minutes.
Started by a former patient, Marti’s Closet provides cancer patients the opportunity to select button-down blouses free of charge. These blouses give women undergoing surgery more comfort because they allow enough room for movement and draining tubes (if necessary). All blouses are donated and have been cleaned.
